April 29th – People’s March for Jobs, Justice, & Climate

Recently Donald Trump gutted the Clean Power Plan and rolled back crucial environmental protections. These protections were hard-won, and were set up to both combat climate change and protect the most at-risk among us: low-income communities, communities of color and our nation’s children.

Trump’s executive order is nothing less than a tragedy. Today, we’re doubling down on our efforts to make sure Trump and his cronies like Scott Pruitt know: our resistance is here to stay. Trump’s 100th day in office will be marked by a powerful show of our people-powered resistance in our march for climate, jobs and justice.

On April 29 we will come together in DC to physically surround the White House and drown out the administration’s climate denial. We will raise our collective voices and call for real action and an end to the climate crisis. Click here to invite your friends on Facebook to join you.

Here are the latest details from the PCM organizers for the day:

11:00am: We will gather in front of the Capitol Building in contingents that spell out the values we share: justice, truth, democracy, faith and more. No matter what community you’re marching with, or where you’re coming from, there will be a spot for you. At 12:30pm, we’ll begin marching up Pennsylvania avenue.

1:30pm: We will surround the White House on all sides, and take powerful collective action to honor the lives at stake and make a loud sound demanding climate justice and good jobs that will drown out all of the climate-denying nonsense that has been coming out of the White House and Congress.

3:00pm: We will reconvene at the Washington Monument grounds to connect and share the stories that brought us to DC. We’ll hear from the front line of the climate crisis and share solutions rooted in our own communities. There’ll be music and beautiful art from around the country that powerfully shows our local demands and visions. We’ll even assemble all our individual signs into one collective message of resistance.

Trump’s game plan has been to relentlessly attack our communities and shock us into hopelessness. It hasn’t worked because our people-powered movement is stronger than he is — together, the resistance stopped his attempts to overturn the Affordable Care Act and stymied his despicable Muslim ban. Now, we are going to do the same thing to his attacks on our climate, our air, and our water.

But for this march to be a real show of our collective power — to send the message that our resistance is here to stay and will fight tooth and nail for our communities — we need to be there en masse, raising our voices with our friends, family, neighbors, and loved ones.
